The Greek National Opera has finally released its first DVD, featuring Charles Gounod’s opera, Faust that was staged in January 2012 at the Athens Concert Hall (Megaron) and made a great artistic and box office success. It was conducted by Myron Michailidis and was directed by Renato Zanella, GNO’s artistic and ballet directors respectively.

The Greek National Opera is organising an audition for one (1) position for a fagottist, with the obligation for contra fagot (contra bassoon), to meet the special needs of both, the Greek National Opera Orchestra and the Greek National Opera during the 2015-2016 artistic period.

The Greek National Opera, due to the current situation, announces the postponement of the production of "Carmen" which was scheduled to be performed for the 26,28,30,31 July at the Odeon of Herodes Atticus.

Carmen on the streets of Athens

With three surprise - artistic events at Flisvos Marina, the pedestrian walkway of Dionysiou Areopagitou and Monastiraki Square, Greek National Opera farewells the "Suitcase Carmen", the flexible opera production which travelled throughout Greece, in the framework of the programme "Journey to the Stavros Niarchos Cultural Center" and welcomes the great forthcoming production of Carmen to Odeon Of Herodes Atticus.

The Greek National Opera announces Call for Expression of Interest for the position of Ballet Director. GNO is looking for a leading name from the field of ballet with a noteworthy artistic career and proven administrative experience in opera companies and/or dance groups, with a classical focus.

The Greek National Opera is offering a specific number of internships in international sponsorship (6 posts in total) for 6 months to undergraduate university and technological educational institute (TEI) students.

Within the context of its open-door policy, the Greek National Opera announces that it will be offering 1,500 seats free of charge to the unemployed for the dress rehearsal and preview of its production of Giacomo Puccini’s Madama Butterfly at the Herod Atticus Odeon on Friday 26 July at 21.00.

A musical surprise is in store for the residents of the Greek capital on Thursday 18 July at 20.00 on the pedestrian street of Dionysiou Areopagitou, where the Greek National Opera Orchestra will hold an open-air rehearsal.
