In March 2017, the Greek National Opera was relocated from the Olympia Theatre, which had been its home base for decades, to its new facilities at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center. Performances are held on two stages: the Stavros Niarchos Hall (1400 seats) and the Alternative Stage (400 seats). During the summer period GNO productions are also held at the Odeon of Herodes Atticus as part of the Athens Festival. At the same time, the Greek National Opera, in line with its national mission, presents, in so far as it is possible, performances at various spaces all over Greece, such as e.g. the Thessaloniki Music Hall, the Little Theatre of Ancient Epidaurus, the Kalamata Dance Hall, and other cultural centres, schools, etc.
