1500 free tickets to the unemployed for the Dress Rehearsal of Carmen
The Greek National Opera, within the framework of its social policy and with the intention to assure access for all citizens to cultural goods, provides free tickets to the unemployed for the Dress Rehearsal of its second summer production at the Odeon of Herodes Atticus.

The Greek National Opera (GNO) hereby announces an audition to engage soloists for possible collaboration in view of the artistic season 2016- 17. The auditions will be held at the Olympia Theatre, on the 19th and 20th of July 2016 between 11.00 and 17.00.

Andonis Foniadakis is the new Director of the GNO Ballet
Internationally acclaimed Greek choreographer and dancer Mr Andonis Foniadakis has been appointed new Director of the GNO Ballet. The decision was taken by Mr Myron Michailidis, Artistic Director of the GNO. Mr Foniadakis was selected amongst 36 candidates who applied for the position, following the Call for Expression of Interest. The new Ballet Director will assume his position as of 1st September 2016 for a term of three years.

The GNO has finally released its first DVD: Faust by Charles Gounod
The Greek National Opera has finally released its first DVD, featuring Charles Gounod’s opera, Faust that was staged in January 2012 at the Athens Concert Hall (Megaron) and made a great artistic and box office success. It was conducted by Myron Michailidis and was directed by Renato Zanella, GNO’s artistic and ballet directors respectively.

Carmen on the streets of Athens
