COMPETITION FOR PERMANENT ARTIST STAFF

 

The Orchestra of the Greek National Opera is announcing a competition to fill three (3) vacant positions of permanent artistic staff.
Applications deadline 29th December 2023.

A. Category II
a. One (1) position of Concertmaster

B. Category III
a. One (1) position of First Principal in Harp

C. Category IV
a. One (1) position of Associate Principal in Oboe with obligation to English horn (cor anglais)

 

AUDITIONS DATE

Category II: One (1) position of Concertmaster
Date: 18.01.2024
Time: 10:00 am

Category III: One (1) position of First Principal in Harp
Date: 02.02.2024
Time: 10:00 am

Category IV: One (1) position of Associate Principal in Oboe with obligation to English horn (cor anglais)
Date: 14.03.2024 and 15.03.2024
Time: 10:00 am

 

AUDITIONS REQUIREMENTS

Candidates who wish to take part in the auditions must submit, between Thursday 30 November 2023 and Friday 29 December 2023, the following documents:

1. Application: Download the application here
2. Curriculum Vitae: as well as any other element that may contribute to portraying his artistic personality and ability
3. Photocopy of Police ID or Passport (with the application)
4. Candidates who claim the status of recognized musical talent, by filling in the relevant information on the application form, are required to submit information that will justify this status. The finding in this regard will be investigated by the Exam Committee, according to the law.

 

Those who wish to take part in the auditions can submit the supporting documents until December 29th:

B. By Post via registered mail or courier. The stamp should be registered by 29/12/2023 (postmarked).

Candidates must bring their own pianist (accompanist).

Auditions place:
Orchestra rehearsal room on the 5th floor of the Greek National Opera building, located at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center, 5A floor (364 Andreas Syggrou Avenue, 17674 Kallithea).

With a new announcement that will be posted on our website. www.nationalopera.gr, after the applications deadline, the order and time of each candidate's appearance will be announced. Candidates will compete in alphabetical order.

 

AUDITIONS REPERTOIRE

The auditions material include the following:

Concertmaster
a. MOZART Compulsory Concerto: One (1) of the concertos: No. 3 (in G major) KV 216, No. 4 (in D major) KV 218, No. 5 (in A major) KV 219, complete with cadenza
b. A piece of the candidate's choice: On the day of the audition, candidates should bring 2 copies of the piece of their choice.
c. Orchestral Excerpts: Candidates can get the orchestral works excerpts from 15 December 2023 to 13 January 2024 here.
d. Prima Vista

First Principal in Harp
a. Obligatory Concerto DITTERSDORF: Harp Concerto in A major complete
b. A piece of the candidate's choice: On the day of the audition, candidates should bring 2 copies of the piece of their choice.
c. Orchestral Excerpts: Candidates can get the Orchestral Works Excerpts from 29 December 2023 to 27 January 2024 here.
d. Prima Vista

Associate Principal in Oboe
a. An Obligatory Concerto MOZART: Concerto in C major complete with cadenza
b. A piece of the candidate's choice: On the day of the audition, candidates should bring 2 copies of the piece of their choice.
c. Orchestral Excerpts: Candidates can get the Orchestral Works Excerpts from 12 February 2024 to 13 March 2024 here.
