On Wednesday 17 July 2019, the Greek National Opera Artistic Director Giorgos Koumendakis announced the programme for the 2019/20 season, in a press conference held at the Stavros Niarchos Hall in the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center.

On Monday, 1 July 2019, at the GNO Ballet Studio, at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center, it was decided by the ballet committee that the following three (3) dancers are selected to cover the artistic needs of the GNO Ballet:

A major international success for the Greek National Opera, acknowledging its Educational and Social work that is carried out with a donation from the SNF. The GNO’s Educational and Social Activities project Co-OPERAtive: An intercultural and collaborative opera hub for young people won the 2019 Fedora Prize for Education.

Greek National Opera's second summer production for 2019 is the popular La traviata by Giuseppe Verdi, which is presented for the first time at the Odeon of Herodes Atticus.

On the occasion of the launch of a new four-year outreach programme through a major grant by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF), the GNO representatives travelled to New York City in order to present the Organization’s work and activities alongside the new artistic outreach program.

The Greek National Opera hereby announces an audition to engage three (3) male ballet dancers. The audition will take place on Monday 1 July 2019, at the Ballet studios of the Greek National Opera at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (364 Syngrou Ave., GR-17674).

On Thursday 2 May, at noon, opens the presale for the Greek National Opera production of Norma, which will be presented on 5, 7, 9, 11 June at the Odeon of Herodes Atticus, as part of the Athens Festival.

The first Greek National Opera co-production, as part of the new donation by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation, will be with the Baden-Baden Festival: Verdi's Otello, directed by Robert Wilson.
