Alcedo folk band: A musical group with diverse influences and a colourful palette

The Crossroads of the World is a musical performance featuring songs from Crete and from places near it, in the East and the West, that have left their mark on the island. Greeks, Romans, Byzantines, Arabs, Venetians, Ottomans, and others have left their imprint on Crete, creating a mosaic of arts and ideas.

The performance’s central concept is to “depict” Cretan multiculturality through a variety of musical pieces, songs, and dances, imaginatively illuminating the influences that have shaped it.
