DIMITRA KOTIDOU

Greek soprano, she was born in Athens. She studied singing at the Kodály Conservatory under Christina Yannakopoulou (diploma with honours and first prize). She holds diplomas in harmony, counterpoint, fugue and piano, and has studied at the University of Piraeus and at Harvard University. She has appeared in the most prestigious opera houses and festivals internationally, such as the Greek National Opera, Hanover State Opera, Deutsche Oper am Rhein, Bern Theatre, Komische Oper Berlin, Aalto Theatre (Essen), Tonhalle Düsseldorf, Eutin Festival and Athens Epidaurus Festival. She has performed leading roles, including Queen of the Night (Die Zauberflöte), Konstanze (Die Entführung aus dem Serail), Lucia (Lucia di Lammermoor), Gilda (Rigoletto), Norina (Don Pasquale) and Queen of Shemakha (The Golden Cockerel). She has collaborated with distinguished conductors and stage directors, such as Antonino Fogliani, Lukas Karytinos, Marc Piollet, Christopher Moulds, Franco Zeffirelli, Renata Scotto, Graham Vick, Barrie Kosky and has studied with Montserrat Caballé. Last September, she performed to great acclaim the role of Violetta with the GNO in China.
