JEAN-FRANÇOIS BORRAS

One of the most celebrated French tenors worldwide, he has performed at the most prestigious opera houses internationally. He has sung Chevalier des Grieux (Manon) at the Opéra national de Paris, Monte-Carlo, Valencia, Vienna State Opera, Raimbaut (Robert le diable) and Nabucco at the Royal Opera House (Covent Garden, London), Alfredo (La traviata) in Monte-Carlo, Marquis de la Force (Dialogues des carmélites) in Rome, Cinna (La vestale) and Macduff (Macbeth) at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées. He has appeared in Toulon, Munich, Metz, São Paulo, Avignon, Florence, Palermo and at the Matsumoto Festival (Japan). In 2014, he replaced Jonas Kaufmann in the title role of Werther at the Metropolitan Opera in New York, where he later performed Duke of Mantua (Rigoletto), Rodolfo (La bohème), Werther and Nicias (Thaïs). Recently, he took part in a concert performance of the opera Hérodiade (Opéra national de Lyon, Théâtre des Champs-Élysées), and, in May, he appeared as Don José (Carmen, Teatro La Fenice, Venice). He has collaborated with leading conductors. He worked again with the Greek National Opera as Duke of Mantua (Rigoletto, 2008/09 & 2009/10) and Werther (2014).
