MATINA TSAROUCHA

Greek soprano, she was born in Trikala. She holds a bachelor’s degree from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama (honours and scholarship), following a master’s degree from the Royal College of Music in London (honours and full scholarship), supported by the Josephine Baker Trust. She has performed Violetta (La traviata) with the Haffner Orchestra, Adele (Die Fledermaus), Fortuna (L’incoronazione di Poppea, Grange Festival, showcase), and roles (excerpts) such as Countess Alma-viva (Le nozze di Figaro), Magda (La rondine), Leïla (Les Pêcheurs de perles), First lady (Die Zauberflöte). As a soloist she has appeared at the Odeon of Herodes Atticus, Athens Concert Hall, Wigmore Hall and the Barbican Centre. She has participated in the Oxford International Song Festival, Andrea Bocelli Foundation Gala (Italy), in concert with the Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation Symphony Orchestra under Michalis Economou in honour of Dimitri Kavrakos and in Grange Festival gala (Athens). In 2023, she received the Maria Callas scholarship award and the Kathleen Ferrier Award (London), while in 2022, she was distinguished at the Mozart Singing Competition (London).
