American tenor, he has been acclaimed internationally as one of the finest singers of his generation. He has performed at the world’s most prestigious opera houses and festivals, including the Metropolitan Opera (New York), ROH (Covent Garden, London), Vienna State Opera, Berlin State Opera, Opéra national de Paris, Bavarian State Opera, Teatro Real (Madrid), Zurich Opera, Salzburg Festival, Gran Teatre del Liceu (Barcelona), La Scala (Milan). Castronovo’s repertoire includes a wide range of roles such as Alfredo (La traviata), Don Ottavio (Don Giovanni), Tom Rakewell (The Rake’s Progress), Rodolfo (La bohème), Roméo (Roméo et Juliette), Don José (Carmen), Chevalier des Grieux (Manon), Ruggero (La rondine), Gennaro (Lucrezia Borgia), Pinkerton (Madama Butterfly), Rodolfo (Luisa Miller), Faust (Mefistofele) and the title roles in Faust and La Damnation de Faust. Recent seasons highlight the addition of lirico spinto roles as the title roles of Ernani, Don Carlo, Maurizio (Adriana Lecouvreur), Adorno (Simon Boccanegra), Riccardo (Un ballo in maschera), Giasone (Medea) and Mario Cavaradossi (Tosca). This is the first time he performs at the Greek National Opera.
