ALEKSANDRA KURZAK

Polish soprano, member of the Hamburg State Opera (2001–2007) and frequent guest, among others, at the ΜΕΤ, Royal Opera House, Paris Opera, Bavarian State Opera, La Scala, Vienna State Opera, Berlin State Opera. Besides signature roles as Gilda (Rigoletto), Violetta (La traviata), Lucia (Lucia di Lammermoor), Adina (L’elisir d’amore), Fiorilla (Il turco in Italia), Queen of the Νight (Die Zauberflöte) and Rosina (Il barbiere di Siviglia), in the last few years she debuted as Rachel (La Juivre), Cio-Cio-San (Madama Butterfly), Micaëla (Carmen), Mimì (La bohème), Liù (Turandot), Vitellia (La clemenza di Tito), Desdemona (Otello), Nedda (Pagliacci), Santuzza (Cavalleria rusticana), Alice (Falstaff), Elisabeth (Don Carlo), Luisa Miller, Tosca, Adriana Lecouvreur, Fedora, Aida. Born in a family of musicians and a former violinist, she received a PhD (2016) and the title Professor in Music (2021). She was an exclusive recording artist for Decca and Sony Classical, whilst she has recorded for Deutsche Grammophon, Warner and Aparté. This is her first performance at the Greek National Opera.
