DANAE KONTORA

An internationally acclaimed Greek coloratura soprano, she has performed classical and contemporary repertoire roles. She excelled as Queen of the Night (Die Zauberflöte) in Europe (Dresden State Opera, Teatro Regio in Turin, Frankfurt Opera, Leipzig Opera, Stuttgart State Opera, Komische Oper Berlin under the stage direction of Barrie Kosky) and on tours (Beijing, Macau, Taiwan). She has sung such roles as Lucia (Il viaggio, Opéra national de Paris under Kent Nagano), Zerbinetta (Ariadne auf Naxos, Finnish State Opera), Franzi (Die Weiden, Vienna State Opera), Philippe (Die Teufel von Loudun, Munich State Opera under Vladimir Jurowski), Adele (Die Fledermaus, Teatro Carlo Felice under Fabio Luisi), Blonde (Die Entführung aus dem Serail, Hamburg State Opera), Oscar (Un ballo in maschera, Israel Opera), Aminta (Die schweigsame Frau, Karlsruhe State Theatre). She has collaborated with leading orchestras (Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra, Bamberg Symphony, Deutsche Kammer-philharmonie Bremen, with which she performed at the BBC Proms under Konstantinos Karydis, Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra), whilst appeared at renowned festivals in Europe, such as the Edinburgh International Festival.
