ALLISON OAKES

Born in the UK, Allison has established a reputation as one of the new leading dramatic sopranos with successes including Sieglinde (Die Walküre, Dresden State Opera under Christian Thielemann), Chrysothemis (Elektra, MET, Dresden State Opera, Deutsche Oper Berlin), Carlotta (Die Gezeichneten, Concertgebouw Amsterdam), Salome and Marietta (Die tote Stadt, Staatsoper Hamburg), Salome and Elisabeth / Venus (Tann- häuser, Deutsche Oper Berlin) and Isolde (Tristan und Isolde) and Brünnhilde (Siegfried) at the Wagner Festival in Budapest. Her first Brünnhilde (Götterdämmerung) at the Braunschweig State Theatre at the end of last season was a widely acclaimed role debut. Important highlights of her career include Marie / Marietta (Die tote Stadt, ENO), her role debuts as Brünnhilde (Die Walküre, concert performances) and Siegfried (Berliner Philharmonie), Senta (Der fliegende Holländer, Hamburg State Opera), Brünnhilde (Die Walküre, Leipzig Opera). She has participated in international vocal competitions where she has won numerous prestigious awards. Allison first qualified as a diagnostic radiographer before studying music in Germany.
