SERGEY SEMISHKUR

Russian tenor, he graduated from the Nizhny Novgorod State Glinka Conservatoire in 2003 and the same year he joined the Mariinsky Academy of Young Singers. Since 2007 he has been a soloist with the Mariinsky Opera Company. Sergey has taken part in various opera festivals around the world (Savonlinna, Salzburg, Edinburgh, etc). Among others, he has sung Rodolfo (La bohème), Vladimir Igorevich (Prince Igor), Aleko and Paolo (Francesca da Rimini) and his repertoire ranges from Berlioz, Borodin, Donizetti and Gounod to Janáček, Mahler, Mozart, Mussorgsky, Offenbach, Prokofiev, Puccini and others. He performs at the world’s most prestigious concert venues, among them Carnegie Hall in New York, Kennedy Center in Washington, Millennium Centre in Cardiff, Barbican Hall in London, Royal Opera House in Stockholm, Opéra Bastille in Paris, Teatro Real in Madrid and Deutsche Oper in Berlin. His discography includes recordings of the operas Oedipus Rex, The Nose and Das Rheingold as well as Berlioz’s Requiem and Mahler’s Eighth Symphony which was recorded with the London Symphony Orchestra. He has received numerous awards in international competitions.
