CHRYSANTHI SPITADI

Greek mezzo-soprano, she was born in Athens. She graduated from the Faculty of The- atre Studies (Athens University) and studied singing and musical at the Vienna Music Academy. She was awarded at the International Audition Competition of Schlossoper Haldenstein Festival (Switzerland, 2009) and made her professional debut as Carmen in Chur, Switzerland. In 2010 she sang Carmen (Opera Festival Klosterneuburg, Austria), while the next year she was a finalist of the Emmerich Smola Competition and made her debut as Federica (Luisa Miller, Wiesbaden). During 2011-2015 she was a permanent member of the Thüringen Theatre and Philharmonie. She sang to great acclaim Car- men, Charlotte (Werther), Frau Reich (Otto Nicolai’s Die lustigen Weiber von Windsor), Hänsel (Hänsel und Gretel), Prince Orlofsky (Die Fledermaus), Sonyetka (Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk), Third Lady (Die Zauberflöte), Auntie (Peter Grimes), Bradamante (Alcina) as well as Verdi’s Requiem, Beethoven’s 9th Symphony, St John Passion, etc. She has been permanent member of the Münster Theatre (2018/19) singing Mrs Jones (Street Scene) and Clarice (The Love for Three Oranges). At the GNO she has sung First Maid (Elektra), Gertrude (Roméo et Juliette), Flora Bervoix (La traviata), Suzuki (Madama Butterfly), Marthe (Faust) and Meg Page (Falstaff).
