Laurie Rubin

Mezzo-soprano Laurie Rubin performs music in a wide variety of genres internationally. In 2012, following the publication of her memoir and CD, both entitled Do You Dream in Color, Laurie embarked on a dynamic concert and book tour in which she wove programmes of concerts and stories from her own life to numerous venues, including the 92nd Street Y in New York, and the Ravinia Festival in Chicago. She premiered the work Do You Dream in Color which she co-wrote with composer Bruce Adolphe at the International Human Rights Festival in Lucerne Switzerland and, at the US premiere, with the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra. She performed the role of Elle in Francis Poulenc’s La Voix humaine and Penelope in Monteverdi’s Ιl ritorno d’Ulisse in patria with the Greenwich Music Festival, Karen in Gordon Beeferman’s The Rat Land with New York City Opera, the witch/voice in Lisa Bielawa’s episodic opera Vireo: The Spiritual Biography of a Witch’s Accuser on KCET’s Artbound and Mycelia in Paola Prestini’s opera Sensorium Ex at the Kennedy Center with the Washington National Opera Orchestra.
