Nikos Spanatis

Countertenor, born in Frankfurt. PhD degree with honours from the Department of Music Studies of the Ionian University with a thesis in music performance. He studied trumpet, music theory, piano and voice with Aris Christofellis, Rosa Poulimenou and Mata Katsuli (diploma with honours and first prize). As a soloist, he has performed in Greek theatres and has participated in art projects and international festivals in Lahti, Tallinn, San Sebastián, London, Belgium, Venice, Madrid, Amsterdam. He collaborates with the Brussels Virtuosi and famous flutist Marc Grauwels and has performed with all Greek orchestras. He has performed roles such as Giustizia divina (Il diluvio universale), Sorceress (Dido and Aeneas), Pisandro (Ιl ritorno d’Ulisse in patria), Marcellino (Le Martyre de saint Sébastien), Pooh-Bah (The Mikado), Carpoforos and Messenger (Erofili), Nireno (Giulio Cesare), Ascanio (Ascanio in Alba), Baba (The Rake’s Progress) and Oberon (A Midsummer Night’s Dream) at the Opera Studio of the Greek National Opera.
