DIMITRA SVIGKOU

Greek choreographer, she is a graduate of the Music High School of Pallini. She studied dance at Niki Kontaxaki – Nikoletta Bakali Higher Professional Dance School as well as flamenco in Madrid and Andalusia under Cristóbal Reyes, Alfonso Losa, Juana Amaya, Joaquín Grilo, among others. Since 2006 she has run her own state-recognised dance school, Artistico, in Porto Rafti, and since 2011 she has been teaching flamenco at the Professional Dance School of the Greek National Opera. As a dancer she has performed in productions of the Greek National Opera, including the operas Carmen and Il trovatore. She also took part in the underwater dance performance Drops of Breath, where she first encountered the concept of inclusion in dance. Since then, she has collaborated with numerous institutions across Europe, teaching and choreographing inclusive performances, seminars and educational programmes for people with and without disabilities as well as in Erasmus+ programmes.
