GIANNA FILIPPOPOULOU

Born in Athens, she studied at the MDW, Vienna, with Rosalia Chladek (diploma in contemporary dance). She was a permanent collaborator of Zouzou Niko-loudi and the Chorika dance company (1990–2004). In 1998, she directed The Trojan Women with Zouzou Nikoloudi and Korais Damatis. She has worked with the ARC dance company, Roes dance theatre, Haris Mandafounis, etc. In 2005, she danced at the ImPulsTanz Festival (Vienna) and the Centre national de la danse (Paris), reviving three choreographies by Rosalia Chladek. She was a member of the teaching staff of the National School of Dance (1980–2012) and taught at the International seminar on contemporary dance methodology of Rosalia Chladek (Strasbourg, 1986–2014). She has taught at the ImPulsTanz Festival (Vienna), Drama School of the Art Theatre, two-year Orff Music and Movement Education programme and at the School of Narrative Art. She has worked as a movement director in theatrical plays and has worked with Spyros Evangelatos and the National Theatre of Greece on The Bacchae and Iphigenia in Tauris. She was a member of the core creative team for the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the Athens 2004 Olympic Games.
