NIKI PSYHOGIOU

Greek costume and set designer, she combines solid theoretical and research background with the technical skills she acquired during her studies at the Department of History and Archaeology (National and Kapodistrian University of Athens) and at the University of the Arts, London (performance design). She works in the field of theatre, approaching it as a space for exploring the possibilities of artistic creation through the continuous interplay between traditional and contemporary methods in costume and set design as well as their interaction with the audience. Highlights of her career include such productions as Juditha triumphans (Greek National Opera, dir. Thanos Papakonstantinou, as part of a tribute to the 2021 bicentennial of the Greek Revolution), Claudio Monteverdi’s L’Orfeo (dir. Thanos Papakonstantinou, cond. Markellos Chryssicos), the music theatre production The Haunted (dir. Thanos Papakonstantinou, music by Dimitris Maramis) as well as Electra as part of the Athens Epidaurus Festival (2018) and Apocalypse (dir. Thanos Papakonstantinou) at the Onassis Stegi (2019).
