VASSILIS PAPATSAROUCHAS

Greek set and costume designer, he was born in Athens. He studied painting, set design and graphic arts at the Athens School of Fine Arts, under Triantafyllos Patraskidis, Giorgos Ziakas and Leoni Vidali. He has presented his work in five solo exhibitions in Greece and abroad. He has been awarded twice the State Illustration Award (2003, 2012) and the Greek Graphic Design and Illustration Award – EBGE (2010, 2012). In 2008 he was nominated for the International Hans Christian Andersen Award. In 2022 he received a set design award (Audience Theatre Awards, Athinorama magazine) for the play The Cost of Living, while in 2025 he received the set design award (Hellenic Association of Theatre and Performing Arts Critics) and the costume design award (Audience Theatre Awards, Athinorama magazine) for the play Waiting for Godot. As a set and costume designer in theatre he has collaborated with Yannis Anastasakis, Akyllas Karazisis, Nikaiti Kontouri, Stamatis Kraounakis, Nikos Mastorakis, Thomas Moschopoulos, Dimitris Papaioannou, Angeliki Trompouki, Stavros Tsakiris and Nikos Hatzopoulos.
