PHILIPP FÜRHOFER

Born in Augsburg, he combines painting, sculpture, installations and stage design in his multidisciplinary practice. He studied painting at the Berlin University of the Arts. Since 2011, he has been working as a stage and costume designer in opera. He has designed sets for such productions as Eugene Onegin, The Queen of Spades and Lohengrin for the Dutch National Opera (Amsterdam) and for the opera Der fliegende Holländer for the Finnish National Opera (Helsinki). His production of I vespri siciliani was performed at the Royal Opera House (Covent Garden, London) in 2013 and at the Royal Opera in Copenhagen in 2015. His artistic work has been shown in solo and group exhibitions in Paris, Milan, Sydney, Hong Kong, Hamburg, Cologne, Munich, Berlin and in 2023 at the Städel Museum in Frankfurt.
