DERRICK INOUYE

Born in Canada, he has performed with such companies as the Metropolitan Opera (New York), Philharmonia of London, Orchestra of St. Luke’s (New York), New Japan Philharmonic, Monte-Carlo Philharmonic and New York City Opera. He has conducted Wagner’s Die Walküre and Siegfried, Berg’s Lulu, Berlioz’s Benvenuto Cellini and La Damnation de Faust, as well as Tosca, La traviata, Carmen, Don Pasquale, Die Zauberflöte, Pelléas et Mélisande (Metropolitan Opera) and has led La bohème (Nice) and Carmen (Hawaii). This season he conducted Rigoletto and Salome (Metropolitan Opera), Le nozze di Figaro (Japan) and Pelléas et Mélisande (Des Moines Metro Opera). He was first Kapellmeister with the Nuremberg Opera, music director of the Regina Symphony Orchestra and principal guest conductor of the Norddeutsche Philharmonie Rostock. Additional engagements include the Vancouver Opera, Stuttgart Opera and orchestras in Japan, Germany, France, Finland, New Zealand, Canada and the USΑ. This is the first time he conducts at the Greek National Opera.
