Choreographer, movement director, mentor and dance educator. In opera she has choreographed productions such as Turandot, Guillaume Tell, Il viaggio a Reims, Aida (Royal Opera House, London), Betrothal in a Monastery (Glyndebourne), Dialogues des Carmélites, Carmen (English National Opera), Don Giovanni, Tristan und Isolde, Eugene Onegin, The Bartered Bride (Welsh National Opera), La Dueña, Gloriana, Peter Grimes (Opera North), La Damnation de Faust (Théâtre du Châtelet, Paris), Boris Godunov and Carmen (Opéra Bastille). She has also choreographed the musicals Les Misérables (the original production, 1985-2019) and Fiddler on the Roof (London), the theatre productions Three Sisters, Hamlet, Ends of the Earth, The Skin of Our Teeth, ’Tis Pity She’s a Whore and Kreutzer Sonata, the dance theatre works Soul Play, Undivided Loves, Ballroom of Joys and Sorrows, Songs from a Hotel Bedroom, as well as the films The Avengers, Chaplin, Restoration and Dancing Room (with Sally Jacobs for BBC2). She was awarded the OBE (2020). She is a fellow of Churchill Foundation and holds a Rayne Foundation fellowship from 2007.
