REINHARD TRAUB

Lighting designer trained as a graphic designer and a pilot, he began his lighting career in the USA in the mid ’80s as assistant designer of Chenault Spence. After designing three world tours and several other productions for NY Harlem Opera and others he joined the Graz Opera, where he worked with directors including David Alden, John Slater, Peter Konwitschny, Martin Kušej, Calixto Bieito, Stephen Lawless, Jossi Wieler and Christof Loy. He is currently Head of Lighting for Stuttgart Opera and Ballet. He works permanently at leading opera houses and festivals around the world. He has lit more than 400 productions. His recent credits, just to name a few, include Arabella, Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk, Der fliegende Holländer and Khovanshchina (Netherlands Opera), Lucia di Lammermoor, La finta giardiniera, Lulu and Idomeneo (ROH), Platée (Opéra national du Rhin), Don Giovanni, Fidelio, Saul, La forza del destino and Rusalka (Bavarian State Opera), Il turco in Italia (Hamburg State Opera, Bavarian State Opera), Macbeth (Munich Opera Festival) and La donna del lago (Theater an der Wien).
