ERIE KYRGIA

A graduate of the Department of Theatre Studies (NKUA, A. Papadakis scholarship), she has been a scholarship holder and graduate of the interdisciplinary MA of the Departments of Theatre Studies (NKUA) and Music Studies (Ionian University). She works as a dramaturg, translator, dramatologist, librettist, manager of artistic projects. She has collaborated with Y. Houvardas, M. Marmarinos, D. Tarlow, K. Bogomolov, O. Koršu- novas, C. Graužinis, D. Karantzas, K. Evangelatos, Y. Koutlis, K. Rigos, I. Mandafounis, A. Foniadakis, with the National Theatre of Greece, GNO, Poria Theatre, Onassis Stegi, SNFCC, Cyprus Theatre Organisation, Art Theatre, Piraeus Municipal Theatre, with the Russian group Chto Delat, The Medium Project opera group, etc. She has translated from the original languages works by Ibsen, Fosse, Strindberg, Chekhov, Beckett, Pinter, Bernhard, Coward, etc. She has written librettos for operas by G. Dousis and P. Liaropoulos as well as the plays Butterflies in my Stomach, Some Pieces of Stone, Frankenstein and Eliza. She was deputy artistic director (Sept. 2019 – Feb. 2021) and artistic director (Feb.-Dec. 2021) of the National Theatre of Greece. She teaches dramaturgy at the Directing Department of the National Theatre Drama School.
