DAVID DELFÍN

Spanish designer, Diego David Domínguez González, better known as David Delfín, was considered the “enfant terrible” of Spanish fashion. In association with the Postigo siblings (Deborah, Diego and Gorka), and his model-muse Bimba Bosé, in 2001 he founded the Davidelfin brand, a project that brought together disciplines such as fashion, architecture, photography and video. He was introduced to fashion because of his background as a painter, and especially thanks to his exhibition (1999) that was based on texts of the German artist Joseph Beuys in where he used military clothing that was covered with paper, canvas, wood or cardboard. Moreover, his claim to fame was his very first Mercedes-Benz catwalk show in Madrid in 2002. In protest against the war in Afghanistan, he featured bare-breasted, noose-clad models with sacks on their heads. He was honoured with the National Fashion Design Award by the Spanish Ministry of Culture for his revolutionary designs and his unique and incomparable personality. He passed away at the age of 46.
