MARC ÁLVAREZ

Music composer originally from Barcelona, Marc Álvarez creates original music scores for theatre, dance and cinema productions from both the independent and commercial scenes.
In 2007, Marc created the music of El salt de Nijinsky by choreographer María Rovira for the company Trànsit Dansa (Butaca Award for the best dance show) and music of La niña farola, for the Carmen Roche Ballet, as well as for La incapacidad de exprimirte and Destino / destino, choreography by Amaya Galeote. In 2015, Marc was invited by choreographer Johan Inger to compose for his successful piece Carmen (now at the repertoire of Compañía Nacional de Danza – Theatre Basel – SemperOper Dresden).
Among his pieces for theatre, Marc has been working on Plataforma (finalist to the Max Award for best music), El arte de la entrevista, El pintor de batallas, Venus, El Plan, DJ Peepshow, El Cabaret de los hombres perdidos (Broadway World Award), The Hole 2, El Cíclope y otras rarezas del amor, Yllana 25, La Calderona among many others, working with directors such as Calixto Bieito, David Ottone, Joe O’Curneen, Víctor Conde, Antonio Álamo, Juan José Afonso, Juan José Villanueva, Ignasi Vidal, or Carlos Atanes.
Marc is also involved as musical director for The Opera Locos (Max Award for the best musical show) with productions in Spain, France and Mexico.
