BEN PICKERSGILL

He is a UK-based lighting designer working mainly in opera and theatre. Recent designs for opera include Il trittico (Scottish Opera), Falstaff, La Rondine, Trouble in Tahiti (Opera North), Dalia (Garsington Opera), Chérubin (Royal Academy of Music) and The Turn of the Screw (Bury Court Opera). Theatre work includes A Little Night Music (Buxton International Festival), Odyssey: A Heroic Pantomime (Jermyn Street Theatre), A Christmas Carol (Theatre by the Lake), Unicorns Almost (Bristol Old Vic) and the UK Tour of This House. Ben has also collaborated with the Royal Ballet, lighting their Draft Works festival. Projects as associate include Macbeth (Palau de les Arts, Valencia), The Inheritance (London West End and Broadway), The Lehman Trilogy (London West End) and A Midsummer Night’s Dream (New National Theatre Tokyo, lit via zoom during the pandemic). Ben also works as a visiting tutor and lighting supervisor for technical theatre students at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff.
