BERTRAND COUDERC

One of Europe’s foremost lighting designers, he has designed the lighting for numerous performances, both for theatre and opera and collaborates with the greatest stages worldwide. In 2005, he worked with Patrice Chéreau on Così fan tutte (Aix-en-Provence Festival, Paris Opera). This was followed by Tristan and Isolde at La Scala in Milan conducted by Daniel Barenboim, as well as the play Night Just Before the Forests. The productions he has lit include From the House of the Dead (conducted by Pierre Boulez and produced at the Theater an der Wien, MET, Paris Opera. etc), La Cenerentola and Manon (Paris Opera), La Vie parisienne (Théâtre des Champs-Élysées), Anna Bolena (La Scala, Μilan), Boris Godunov (Monte-Carlo), Die Frau ohne Schatten (Vienna), The Cheery Orchard and Angels in America (Comédie-Française), Silêncio (Lisbon), Falstaff (Lille). Bertrand Couderc was the theatre winner of the 2017 French Institute’s Horsles-murs grant for his project L’Esprit du vide, in Japan.
