CLÉMENT HERVIEU-LÉGER

His journey is unique, as he was a student at the Conservatoire in Paris when his talent was recognised. He left his studies in law and political science and, after fruitful artistic collaborations, became a member of the Comédie-Française in 2005. In addition to his work as an actor, he was also a collaborator of French actor and opera and theatre director Patrice Chéreau. Together with Daniel San Pedro, he co-founded the Compagnie des Petits Champs in Beaumontel and created L’Étable, a cultural activities establishment in a rural area. At the Comédie-Française, Clément directed productions of Molière and Marivaux. At the Opera, he has directed Cavalli’s La Didone and Mozart’s Mitridate, re di Ponto. Clément is a theatre professor at the Ballet School of the Opéra national de Paris and co-wrote the book J’y arriverai un jour with the writer, theatre critic, and academic Georges Banu. In 2014, he wrote his first play, Le Voyage en Uruguay. He was assistant to Patrice Chéreau in Così fan tutte (Aix-en-Provence, 2005) and signed the dramaturgy of Tristan und Isolde (La Scala, Milan 2007). In 2021 he was elected President of the Société d’Histoire du Théâtre.
