STÉPHANOS THOMOPOULOS

He got into music by listening incessantly as a child to Il barbiere di Siviglia, as well as Freddie Mercury, Brahms and Manos Hadjidakis. This, perhaps, explains his attraction to –and ability to perform– a vast repertoire spanning from Beethoven to Crumb, composers to whom his two recent 2018 albums are dedicated. A student of Jacques Rouvier and Marie-Françoise Bucquet, he became the first doctorate of the Paris National Conservatory of Music and Dance (CNSMDP). Winner of international competitions (Holland Music Sessions, Maria Canals, Hellexpo, Jugend Musiziert) and chosen by the Blüthner, Yamaha, Kempff foundations, he gives concerts in Europe, China, United States of America, Brazil, Japan, Turkey, Egypt, Ukraine, in venues such as Philharmonic, IRCAM, Salle Gaveau as well as Louvre and Orsay museums in Paris, Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Opéra Garnier in Monaco, Ati Hall in Kyoto, as well as in Athens and Thessaloniki Concert Halls, Epidaurus Theatre and Cecilia Mireille Hall in Rio de Janeiro. Today he teaches at the Conservatoire of Nice, while leading a very active concert life.
