ELENI CHOUMOU

Born in Athens, she studied at the School of Fine Arts (Department of Theatre, AUTH, specialising in lighting and directing), as well as photography and audio-visual arts (University of West Attica). Today she is a final student of the postgraduate programme in lighting design (Hellenic Open University). Since 2012 she has been designing lighting for theatre, dance and music performances at the Onassis Stegi, State Theatre of Northern Greece, National Theatre (Experimental Stage), Municipal Theatre of Kalamaria, Berlin Volksbühne, Nikos Kazantzakis Garden Theatre, Bios / Tesla, Thessalian Theatre, Thessaloniki Concert Hall, Athens Concert Hall, Athens Conservatoire, as well as in non-theatrical venues, etc. She has collaborated with independent groups and organisations such as TETTTIX, Aparamillon, Behold, Rough Cut, Ouk Nouk, Rafi, Trigger Happy, Nap, Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation, Athens Epidaurus Festival, Athens Photo Festival, Charles University (Prague), etc. She has created performances, video art, documentaries and photographs that were presented at festivals in Greece and abroad. Her overall work is a creative dialogue between light, semiotics and space.
