ONDREJ OLOS

Born in Slovakia, he studied at the Conservatory of Žilina and at the Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Brno (Czech Republic). In 2006 he received the Leoš Janáček Award for his direction of The Cunning Little Vixen (Chamber Opera of the Janáček Music Academy), while in 2008 he conducted Jenůfa with students of the Janáček Music Academy (Janáček Festival, Brno). At the Brno National Theatre and Slovak National Theatre (Bratislava) he has conducted such works as Eugene Onegin, The Queen of Spades, Macbeth, I vespri siciliani, The Cunning Little Vixen, ťa Kabanová, Jenůfa, Veˇc Makropulos, Die Fledermaus, Pagliacci, Gianni Schicchi, Tosca, Turandot, Don Giovanni, Così fan tutte, Salome and Sadko. He has also conducted in Athens (The Cunning Little Vixen, Veˇc Makropulos, Piano Festival and Don Giovanni at the Greek National Opera), Aarhus, Rennes, Limoges, Reims, Prague, Plzeň (Czech Republic) and Košice (Slovakia). Olos conducts regularly the Slovak Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Prague Chamber Philharmonic and the Philharmonic Orchestras of Brno, Olomouc-Zlín, Košice and Žilina. As a pianist, he performs frequently with violinist Milan Pal’a.
