PANTELIS MAKKAS

Visual and video designer, he was born in Athens. He studied in his hometown, in the Netherlands and in Prague. He often collaborates with theatrical directors, editing videos, while he often works on his own video art productions. His live video design and video performances have been presented in prestigious art venues, theatres and festivals such as National Theatre of Greece, National Theatre of Sweden, Greek National Opera, Athens Epidaurus Festival, Athens Biennale, Athens Concert Hall, Macedonian Museum, Nostos Festival (SNFCC), Neuköllner Oper (Berlin), De Appel (Amsterdam), Operadagen Rotterdam, MIVSC (Brazil), Puff Festival (Croatia), Antic Teatre (Barcelona), Musiktheatertage (Vienna), Folketeatret (Copenhagen), BE Festival (Birmingham, UK), etc. In 2018 he presented his video art work Antistoli at the Athens Epidaurus Festival and then at many international festivals (Vietnam, Spain, Sweden, USA, etc). From 2009 to 2015 he collaborated with the University of Leiden in the Netherlands for his artistic research The Image of Memory. Video performances of his research have been presented in Athens (Genie 2017, Sylvia 2020, Blackleg 2018).
