YANNIS SAMPROVALAKIS

Clarinetist, musicologist, composer, and Associate Professor of Clarinet at the Department of Music Studies of the Ionian University (Corfu). He studied clarinet, music theory, composition, and musicology at the Athens Conservatoire, National Conservatory, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Royal Conservatory of The Hague, and Vienna University of Music and Performing Arts. He was a permanent member (Assistant Principal Clarinet) of the Greek National Opera Orchestra between 2001 and 2024, as well as a member of the Greek National Opera Board of Directors from 2015 to 2021. He is an editor of music publications and co-founder of the Hellenic Music Centre. His editing and orchestration work has been presented by the Athens State Orchestra, Thessaloniki State Symphony Orchestra, Greek National Opera, Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation Music Ensembles, Boston Pops Orchestra (Boston), Nederlands Blazers Ensemble (Amsterdam), Royal Danish Ballet (Copenhagen), and American Ballet Theatre (Metropolitan Opera, New York), among others.
