Theodoros Kitsos

He studied at the Department of Music Studies of the Ionian University while simultaneously studying guitar (degree and diploma with Panagiotis Ioannou and Kostas Grigoreas respectively). He moved to the United Kingdom to specialise in early music performance, studying historical plucked instruments (lute, theorbo, baroque guitar) with Elizabeth Kenny. As a scholar of the Michelis Foundation, he obtained a master’s degree from the University of York (United Kingdom). He continued his studies with scholarships from the Onassis Foundation and the University of York and, since 2005, he holds a PhD degree. He regularly gives lectures and his papers have been published in scientific journals such as The Lute, Chronicles of Aesthetics, Musicology, Mousikos Logos, Mousikos Hellenomnimon and in various collective editions. He has participated in recordings (Decca, Naïve, MDG, Aparté etc.) and concerts in Greece and abroad (United Kingdom, Spain, Italy, Germany, France, Switzerland, Austria, Belgium, Netherlands, Russia, Hungary, Croatia, Romania, Monaco, etc.) with various ensembles (Armonia Atenea, Latinitas Nostra, Il Pomo d'Oro, Yorkshire Baroque Soloists, Athens State Orchestra and Thessaloniki State Symphony Orchestra, Ex Silentio, etc.). He is an assistant professor at the School of Music Studies of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
