Manousos Klapakis

Born in Athens. He is a graduate of the Experimental Music High School and Lyceum of Pallini. At a young age, he had his first contact with percussion, having his father, Michalis, as his first teacher. He was taught davul under Yorghos Yevghelis, while he participated in numerous seminars with internationally renowned percussion soloists, such as Glen Velez, Zohar Fresco and Okay Temiz. He attended violin and theory lessons at the Greek National Conservatoire with Yannis Zevgolis and studied orchestral percussion at the Zografou Municipal Conservatory (Greece) with Kostas Vorissis and Kostas Theodorakos. In recent years, he has been performing in dance, folk and Greek art music productions (in Greece and abroad), while also collaborating with traditional orchestras, dance and theatre groups, as well as young composers. He teaches percussion in music schools, conservatories and theatres workshops in Athens (Greece). He was a founding member of the pioneering percussion group Ta Daktyla tis Ekatis and of the Fuga Perpetua group. As a performer, he has participated in recordings of Greek music and, as a member of the Itanos group, has recorded an album of the same title, featuring compositions by Vassilis Tzorzinis.
