Elektra Miliadou

Born in Thessaloniki. She plays the cello, the viola da gamba and the medieval vielle. She started studying cello at the Neo Conservatory (Thessaloniki) with Angelos Filippou. In 2003, she moved to London, where she completed her studies at the Royal College of Music, and was awarded the McKenna Prize for Early Music for her contribution to the Early Music Department. She continued teaching awareness in historically informed performance. She performed in orchestras and ensembles such as Florilegium, Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, Latinitas Nostra, Os Orphicum. She was a founding member of the Amaranthus baroque ensemble and the Fellowshippe of Musickers medieval ensemble, traveling throughout Europe. Since 2013, she lives in Thessaloniki. She performs regularly at the Athens Epidaurus Festival, Onassis Stegi, Megaron – The Athens Concert Hall, Thessaloniki Concert Hall and in concerts as a member of Ex Silentio, but also in collaboration with musicians from the early music and traditional Mediterranean music scenes. She has performed for the Third Programme of the Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation, BBC3, Radio France and ÖRF. She has recorded for Carpe Diem (Ex Silentio and Udopia by Thimios Atzakas), Talanton (Ex Silentio), Cacophonics Music (Felloshippe of Musickers) and the Albert & Victoria Museum (The Listening Gallery).
