KAZUYO TSUNEHIRO

She was born in Japan. She took her first percussion and piano lessons at the age of thirteen. She went on to receive a degree in Humanities from Waseda University in Tokyo. During her time there, she played with the University Symphony Orchestra, touring some of Europe’s most important concert venues. She went on to study classical percussion at Hochschule für Musik Detmold in Germany, graduating with Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in chamber music. She is a member of the Oros Ensemble and regularly collaborates with the Haydn Orchestra of Bolzano and Trento in Italy. She has performed with numerous orchestras in Germany and Italy, including Dortmunder Philharmoniker, Nordwestdeutsche Philharmonie, Landestheater Detmold and the Orchestra of Tuscany. She has also participated in several productions at the GNO Alternative Stage and the Athens Epidaurus Festival. Together with the percussionist Kostas Argyropoulos, they form the Kazukos Duo, with whom she has performed in Europe and Japan, presenting their own transcriptions for melodic percussion. She has attended masterclasses and studied with Keiko Abe, Jean Geoffroy, Nancy Zeltsman and others.
