Georgia Tegou

Georgia Tegou is a dancer and choreographer who creates dance performances that take place in visual environments. Influenced by architecture, sculpture and visual arts, she uses physical motion to depict aspects of the human condition. Her work has been supported by The Arts Council England and presented by organisations such as Dance Umbrella, Onassis Stegi, The Place, Old Truman Brewery, Royal Academy of Music, Whitechapel Gallery, Athens Epidaurus Festival, Art Night (London) and the National Gallery (Skopje). She was awarded One Dance UK Choreographers Observership in 2018, working with the Royal Ballet School director, Kate Flatt; and received an Excellence in Teaching Award from the University of Roehampton, where she is a lecturer, in 2019. In 2021, she was a Choreodrome Artist at The Place, an artist in residence at Somerset House Exchange in London and a resident artist at Studio Light Moves / Open Futures in Limerick, Ireland. She also exhibited a performative installation as part of the 17th International Architecture Exhibition at the Venice Architecture Biennale, hosted by the Cyprus Pavilion, and choreographed a new work for ŻfinMalta, the National Dance Company of Malta, which premiered in February 2022.
