Dionysios Sourbis

Greek baritone, he was born in Zakynthos and studied voice under George Samartzis (diploma). He continued his studies under maestro Claude Thiolas (Italy, Maria Callas scholarship, 2005). He has received first prize and audience prize in such international competitions as Toti dal Monte International Vocal Competition, Iris Adami Corradetti, Aureliano Pertile – Giovanni Martinelli, Spiros Argiris and Vincenzo Bellini. Furthermore, as Silvio (Pagliacci, Royal Opera House under A. Papano) he was awarded with the Laurence Olivier Award. In addition, he has received honours from the Union of Greek Critics for Drama and Music. Since 2000 he has been cooperating with the Greek National Opera as a soloist. He has sung in Teatro La Fenice (Venice), Teatro Reggio (Turin), Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, Opéra de Rennes (France), Royal Opera House (Covent Garden, London), etc. His repertoire includes Sotiris (Kalomiris’ The mother’s ring), Figaro (Il barbiere di Siviglia), Count Almaviva (Le nozze di Figaro), Marcello (La bohème), Valentino (Faust), Sarpless (Madama Butterfly), Escamillo (Carmen), Don Giovanni and Pink (Turandot).
