Tassis Christoyannis

Greek baritone, he was born in Piraeus. Since 1989 he has been singing at the GNO, whilst performing in concerts and productions at the most prestigious stages in Greece and around the world (Paris, Vienna, Berlin, New York, etc). His repertoire includes leading roles in such operas as Il barbiere di Siviglia, Don Giovanni, Macbeth, Rigoletto, Otello, Falstaff, Nabucco, Simon Boccanegra, Wozzeck. In addition to opera recordings (La traviata, Falstaff, Werther, Tamerlano, Julius Caesar, etc) and songs by French composers (Saint-Saëns, David, Hahn, Gounod, Godard, etc), he has recorded works by Greek composers (Hadjidakis, Theodorakis, Mamangakis, Kouroupos, Mikroutsikos, Markopoulos, etc). He also composes music. His works, including musicals such as Christmas Story, Once Upon a Time There Was a Little Prince, the ballets On the Road, Labyrinth, and the song cycles E.E. Cummings Thomas Moore, 24 Prayers have been presented in Greece and abroad. He received the Prix de l’Academie Charles Cros (Best French songs interpreter, category: opera). Since February 2024 he has been artistic director of Olympia City Music Theatre “Maria Callas”.
