Stratos Papanoussis

Βorn in Thessaloniki, he studied at the State Academy of Dance of former East Berlin and at the Despina Grigoriadou Professional Dance School in Athens under Boriana Rizova, Kalina Bogoeva, Ghes Mikhov, Stefan Hristov. In 1992 he became a member of the GNO Ballet and in 2000 a Principal Dancer. He has danced lead roles in ballets of classical, neoclassical and contemporary repertoire such as Paquita, Giselle, Le Corsaire, La Bayadère, Swan Lake, La Fille mal gardée, The Sleeping Beauty, Don Quixote, Zorba the Greek, Raymonda, The Nutcracker, Voyage to Eternity, Boléro, Romeo and Juliet, Cinderella, Eugene Onegin, etc. He has worked with the Perth Dance Company in Australia (Basilio, Don Quixote) and with the Sofia National Opera, Bulgaria, in the production of Roots. He has worked with renowned choreographers such as Rudi van Dantzig, Oleg Vinogradov, Igor Zelensky, Lorca Massine, Germinal Casado, Pierre Lacotte, Irek Mukhamedov, Renato Zanella, Daniel Lommel, Konstantinos Rigos, Haris Mandafounis and others. He has been choreographer’s assistant in such works as Baroque ’n’ roll (chor. Pierre Tavernier, 2008) and Giselle (chor. Irek Mukhamedov, 2009).
