Change in Tosca’s cast

 

We announce that on 23 December 2025, and 7 January 2026, the role of Floria Tosca will be performed by the internationally renowned German-Armenian soprano Hrachuhí Bassénz, replacing Cellia Costea.

 

Brief biographical note:
German-Armenian soprano, she was born to a musical family in Yerevan, Armenia. After her violin studies, she studied singing at the Komitas State Conservatory in her hometown. Last month, she debuted at the Teatro Colón (Buenos Aires) as Violetta Valéry (La traviata). In 2024/25 season, she performed Violetta Valéry (La traviata) at the Royal Opera House (Covent Garden, London), gave her house debut as Cio-Cio-San (Madama Butterfly) at Las Palmas Opera and her role debuts as Tosca at Limoges Opera and Leonore (Fidelio) at Busan Concert Hall (Korea), while she appeared with the Malmö Symphony Orchestra in an Italian opera gala. She also gave a recital with Helmut Deutsch in Yerevan and sang Strauss’ Four Last Songs and the Brahms’ German Requiem at the Meistersingerhalle Nürnberg. She has collaborated with leading conductors and directors. She has been awarded numerous prizes including Singer of the Year and Audience Award from the Musiktheater Gelsenkirchen, the second prize of the Voci Verdiane international singing competition as well as the Gold Medal from the Ministry of Culture and the Komitas Medal from the Diaspora Ministry of the Republic of Armenia. She first collaborated with the GNO in Otello (2022).
