This year, La Traviata, Giuseppe Verdi’s timeless masterpiece, inspires a magical journey into the world of music and theatre, specially designed for our little friends, the preschoolers. This educational programme invites Kindergarten classrooms from Attica to discover opera through fascinating storytelling, live music, and creative play, offering an experience that awakens imagination and cultivates a love for art. The performances will be held at two venues: ten double performances in the VIP Lounge of the Greek National Opera at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center, and another ten double performances at the schools’ venues.

The story comes to life in a multicoloured park in Paris, where a celebration and a… lost ball bring two children together: Violetta and Alfredo. Along with the park’s… inhabitants, they dance, sing, help each other, and unravel their story guided by music themes and arias from the opera of the same name. But what happens when it’s time for them to part ways? Will they be able to meet again?

In this interactive music theatre performance, children go on a journey through an enchanting Paris district, guided by an opera singer and the live accompaniment of an accordion. They actively participate through singing, playing, and engaging in music-motor activities, while being introduced to the wonderful musical themes of Verdi’s great opera, La traviata.

This programme offers a magical experience of imagination and sound, where opera is reduced to fit in children’s pockets, transformed into a… play!

Kindergarten teachers will receive instructions on how to prepare their students a few days before their school participates in the educational programme.
