Concerts at Care Centers for the elderly across Attica

This Concert Cycle is funded by the Ministry of Culture, as part of the work “Sub 1.1.6 Attracting individuals aged 65 and over and individuals with disabilities to events of the Greek National Opera,” which is implemented as part of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan “Greece 2.0” with funds from the European Union – NextGenerationEU.

Having begun in May 2024, we continue with one final cycle of musical encounters in Elder Care Units across Attica. For the 2025/26 artistic season, the initiative returns with new musical offerings and an updated repertoire, aiming to share joy and emotion with people of the third and fourth age, while actively contributing to the improvement of their daily lives. In addition, the initiative seeks to create spaces for communication and socialization, strengthening the connection of older adults with the art of lyric music as well as with the community around them.

After more than 60 concerts with the Rafí Music Theatre and having received an enthusiastic response, this year’s cycle, featuring Fanis Zachopoulos (guitar, voice) and Dimitris Tasainas (double bass, voice), presents a new program featuring well-known operettas, light-music songs, selections from the “Greek New Wave,” and songs from the wider Greek repertoire—inviting older adults to remember, sing, move, and share experiences.

Because growing older does not mean isolation, but music, song, and participation in life!
