Following the sell-out of tickets for the first six performances of To Have Been So Close So Many Times, the Greek National Opera Alternative Stage announces three additional shows on 16, 17, and 18 October 2026. Booking for the additional dates opens on 23 September 2026 at 12.00 via the GNO Box Office and ticketservices.gr.

The Greek National Opera Alternative Stage opens the 2026/27 season with composer and GNO Artistic Director Giorgos Koumendakis’ new work To Have Been So Close So Many Times, which brings together onstage four poems by Constantine P. Cavafy, three choreographers, nine GNO Ballet dancers, a singer, a sculptural installation, and two instrumental ensembles. This performance does not tell a linear story; instead, it plunges the audience into an immersive, emotional experience – an inward ritual. The production is made possible by a grant from the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) to enhance the Greek National Opera’s artistic outreach.
