1,500 free tickets to unemployed individuals for Rigoletto’s dress rehearsal

The Greek National Opera is offering 1,500 free tickets for unemployed individuals to attend the dress rehearsal of Giuseppe Verdi’s dark masterpiece Rigoletto on Saturday, 26 July 2025, at 21.00 at the Odeon of Herodes Atticus.

The Greek National Opera continues for a tenth consecutive year to offer our unemployed fellow citizens the opportunity to attend an exceptional opera production at the Odeon of Herodes Atticus for free, with the goal of making the art of opera accessible to everyone.

Rigoletto, one of the most popular operas in the repertoire, tells the story of Gilda’s love –the daughter of the hunchback court jester, Rigoletto– for the promiscuous Duke of Mantua and Rigoletto’s plan to seek revenge for his daughter’s lost honour.

The production, scheduled to run for four performances on 27, 29, 30, and 31 July 2025 at the Odeon of Herodes Atticus, will be led by internationally renowned conductor Derrick Inouye. Its successful stage direction is credited to the Artistic Director of the Athens Epidaurus Festival, Katerina Evangelatos. The set is designed by Eva Manidaki, with costumes created by Alan Hranitelj. Patricia Apergi is responsible for the choreography and movement, while Eleftheria Deko handles the lighting design. Ion Kesoulis has revived the stage direction, and Ilias Chatzigeorgiou has brought the choreography and movement back to life. The production features established Greek and international soloists of global acclaim.

The distribution of free tickets for Rigoletto’s dress rehearsal –available upon presentation of your unemployment card or certificate, along with an ID card– will continue until all tickets are exhausted, at the GNO Box Office at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (364 Syngrou Avenue, Kallithea / call centre: +30 2130885700) on Thursday, 24 and Friday, 25 July 2025, from 11.00 to 20.00.

It is noted that each unemployment card or certificate holder can receive up to two tickets.
