“Next stop: Opera!”: The educational program of the GNO for teenagers

The Greek National Opera systematically invests in education, one of the main pillars of its activities. Under its training policy, the GNO continues to offer original educational programs aimed at familiarizing young people with lyrical art. The educational program "Next stop: Opera!" will be implemented in collaboration with local libraries of the Future Library network in 14 municipalities of Attica with exclusive donation from the Stavros Niarchos Foundation.
A group of teachers and GNO artists will hold a two-hour experiential workshop for opera, as part of the "Journey to the SNFCC” program. The workshop is aimed at adolescents in order to familiarize them with the art of opera. The trainers of the Greek National Opera in collaboration with a distinguished pianist and a professional soloist, lure young people into a a celebration of combined arts, which is, after all, the essence of the opera. Using lyric interpretation and dramatization, they activate and sensitize young people, renewing their standpoint towards the operatic art through a magical experience.
In each municipality where the educational program is being held, follows a performance of Ruggero Leoncavallo’s Pagliacci, within the framework of the "Opera in a suitcase” project of the GNO.
